The sun’s not even up yet. Snow is falling, and it’s so quiet. You could hear a pin drop. I’m out of my normal routine because I’ve been sick since Sunday night. Happy to say I’m recovering.
I am sure you, like me, have been taking stock of 2014. It was an instructive year. I have a better sense of what I want to write, what the business is like, and where to go. Not to say I know everything—I don’t. I still have a lot to learn.
So, for 2015—where do we go from here? What goals can we set? Personal, professional? Mine are fairly simple: continue toward minimalism and finish current novel. I hope you’re also developing goals and moving forward.
I even took a long, hard look at the MFA program that had accepted me. I withdrew in December. Certain events showed me it was not the best fit. I am grateful to have found out sooner rather than later!
I still want to earn the MFA. I applied to a program that is a better fit. If they accept me, great! If not, I can try again next year. I’m not going to stop developing as a writer since I will continue to practice my craft.
Meanwhile, I keep honing the current work in process. Taos Toolbox can help me with getting it into shape this summer. I can’t wait to go to New Mexico! I hope there are things you are looking forward to this year to grow as a writer. I highly encourage you to look for a weekend writer’s retreat or some other creative outlet. Here’s to greater creativity in 2015!
To greater creativity, believing, and not settling! Thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more of your posts. You now have a new follower 😀
Not settling can sometimes be the hardest (but most necessary) part of the creative process! You also have a new follower. 🙂
